A while back, I discovered a way to hatch brine shrimp without a bunch of used pop bottles turned upside down. For a hobbyist, raising a batch or two of egg laying fry doesn't require a large hatchery. I found one that works inside salt or fresh water tanks and provides a more or less constant supply of live baby brine shrimp. It's available from most on-line aquarium supply stores. If I managed to get the right pictures in here, the first one shows angelfish spawning, and the second one shows their fry eating baby brine shrimp directly from the in-tank hatchery. Sorry about the quality of the pictures.

Well, the second picture didn't post, so I'll try once more.

Post Script: Another reason this hatchery works so well is that every hatchling shrimp gets eaten immediately. Everything else stays in the hatchery, which is easy to clean and reload every few days. With no dead shrimp in the bottom, the aquarium water doesn't get all polluted.

For the uninitiated, here's a little better view of the in tank brine shrimp hatchery (hatchelfloffen).

In case you don't get email ads from all the aquarium supply places, you might like to know that drsfostersmith.com has these things on sale for about tenfifty, which is a cheap as I've seen them for a while.
