He seems to be having trouble swimming compared to my other barbs. He was up until today one of the larger healthier looking out of my nine tiger barbs. He seems to be bent, and breathing heavily. He didn't show much interest at feeding time and stayed on the opposite side of the tank that the rest of the barbs were in. He isn't really swimming with the rest. The most noticeable sypmtom is that he is bent. What do you think is wrong?

Three reasons for bent spines; lack of vitamin 'C', stray electricity, or injuries. With the first two, there would be more than one effected.......Frank

Well I guess he must have got injured somehow, since the rest of the fish look fine. I feed the fish tetramin flakes, but I don't know, and it doesn't say wether or not it contains vitamin C. If in fact the fish has injured itself, is there a chance of it's condition improving?

When it's a bent spine due to an injury, it likely broke........Frank

For what it's worth, Josh, I had a Rosy Barb that was acting weird a few months back. Shaking his head all over the place, bumping into things. No signs of illness, though. So I stuck him into a frye net to let him die peacefully without being harassed (I can't kill anything, I'm afraid! especially those guys). Well, two weeks later, he wasn't changing, just wanting to get out, so I let him back with his buddies, and as we speak, he's back on top of the monarchy in that tank.
