PetSmart 18 gal tank is really 15 Gal

I thought I'd share this. I was at PetSmart a while ago looking at their tanks. They had a 15 gal tall tank for $19.99 (I thought that was a good price, I bought one . However, the label on it said 18 gallons! I've owned these before, and it looked like a 15 gallon to me. I measured it and did the math, and sure enough, it's 15 gallons. I talked to the people at the store, and they not surprisingly had no clue.

So, I call top fin. I get transfered a few times and finally get to talk to someone about it. They ask the sales rep next to them, and tell me 'I didn't know we even made 18 gallon takes?'. They said they made 15 gallon tall tanks, not 18 gallon. They promised to get back to me, and I've never heard from them since. Anyone else been to a PetSmart lately and looked at the '18 gallon' tanks?

Actually, I try to stay out of that store...

Interestingly, 15 Imperial gal = 18 US gal. Are you measuring in Imperial gallons? If not, it sounds like someone may have mistakenly converted the tank size on the packaging info.

It is most definitely 15 US Gallons. I believe it was made in Asia somewhere, so I would agree with you - someone somewhere screwed up on the math.

Hmm, ok, any recommendations? The only LFS I've found around here was pretty pathetic. We have PetSmart and PetCo and a couple sleazy LFSs.
