How can I raise the ph levels in my aquarium?

WOW! Welcome to our forum. Most of us worry about lowering pH, because fish tend to like neutral acidity. Some of the African Cichlids need hard water and maybe high pH. Most tap water has high pH, so that's usually where most of us start. Just to clear things up, pH means potential hydrogen, which is an essential component of acid. A low hydrogen potential means the water is acidic (has lots of hydrogen), and a high pH means the opposite.

But back to your question. You can buy chemicals that raise or lower the pH. Fish are very sensitive to rapid changes in pH, so chemical fixes are not a very good idea.

If you use any of the chemicals, I recommend testing your ph in your tank at least daily. That way increase your chances of catching any potentially life threatening fluctuations.
