I have a problem that I hope this NG can help me with...

I have a 125 gal FOWLR ( i know it is not a reef... please forgive and read on.. help please...) and it has been up and running for about 5 months now.. I started adding fish last month...

all water parameters are optimal

first fish: sailfin tang second: lawnmower blenny third: red coris wrasse fourth: coral beauty fifth: maroon clown sixth: flame hawkfish

all fish were not added at the same time.... over a period of two to three weeks...

about 80 lbs of live rock

I also have 4 redleg crabs 4 turbo snails 1 tiger cowrie snail

after about 4 days in the tank the coral beauty developed what I believe to be pop-eye... distended eye.. cloudy... he was active and eating though...

my lfs was kind enough to take him back under the assumption that he may have been sick prior to sale.. and furnished me with credit towards a new fish...

I waited a week... went back and got another coral beauty.. I was sure it wasn't the same one... this one is smaller... and brought him/her home... and in about a week....pop-eye...

all other fish are doing great... active..feeding .... getting along fine

could this be bacterial...fungal... and why just the beauty?

can someone offer an observation?.. and possible treatment....thank you in advance....

Hi Stuart, Bummer about your angels. IME adding more than a fish a month even to a 125 is too much. What are your test kit readings for the ammonia nitrite etc? I need more info to be more help.

not if fish keep getting sick they're not.

Frequently caused in small angels buy netting. Nets often injure the eyes among other things. A large water change will often take care of it in a few days. If the eye looks cloudy then you should treat in quarantine with a double dose of Maracyn-Two each day for 7 to 10 days. Terry B
