My Aqua C Remora pro (hang-on) has been running slow over the last couple of weeks. I have not adjusted it or added anything to the water (anything that is not the usual that is). It just seems to be putting out a more concentrated skimmate. It does not appear to be dirty. I have never cleaned it since last year when I upgraded from a prizm. Does it just need a good scrubbing or is there just not much in my water to skim? Steve

I completely tear mine down about every month. Take the skimmer body out to the garden hose and really blast it out. But I still can't get behind the first baffle. And tear down the Mag 3 and clean it. I'm really surprised how scummy everything gets in 4 to 6 weeks.

One thing with this skimmer, any slight change in the water surface tension can really kill the foaming. Does yours have the threaded plug in the output nozzle to allow cleaning with a bottle brush? I've had pieces of stuff get lodged there before.

Another weird thing is if the output sponge/floss/carbon bag gets dirty it will really affect the out put of the pump. Dunno how but it does. I can actually hear the nozzle getting more pressure if the output chamber (pre-skimmer box) media is cleaned.
