i have a 10 with a milllion snails in it that i havent been able to eliminate. i suspect american pond snails. im going to move some plants (and fish) from it to a 50. i dont want any of the snails to be transferred with the plants. soak them in ? alum( i used to soak all new plants in alum before putting them in a tank. i havent heard or read of that lately) ?? copper solution(hasnt worked yet) thanks for suggestions fireball 'there is an expanding frontier of ignorance' richard feynman

I've used Had-A-Snail in a bucket of water to soak plants and ornamental things in before transferring them into another tank. It's effective that way and you don't load the actual aquarium with extra chemicals.

Get a Botia. I have a Botia Striata (zebra loach and very hardy fish) which has eaten all my trumpet snails that I dumped in because I wanted to have some snails. Clown loaches also seem to like them.

With soaking in had-a-snail, you should probably do it for the recommended time period (on bottle) becuase if you take the snails out early, they'll most likely recover and continue munch.
