I got a starfish for my 29 gallon tank. Now it is barely alive with white stuff coming out of it's arms. What is going on? My husband is on his way to the store to get a small tank to put it in. Is there something I can do?

Sounds like it is really sick, I suppose it is best that someone would see it.

It could be a result of the conditions of the tank but it could be a disease too so I really need more inforamtion

unfortunately he died before my husband got back with the quarintine tank yesterday. At this point I do not know the water conditions because the closest test kit is 2 hours away and i have been unable to make that trip. When we set up the aquarium and got our 6 fish we got the salt water from the dealer so everything should have been the same from the climate that he came from.
Is there a good reference book I could get to heklp understand the salt water aquarium better? I have had freshwater aquariums for 15 years and I am finally getting the nerve to try saltwater.
