On one of those do it yourself TV shows, I watched a guy build an aquarium with a large bubble in the bottom. It was big enough for him to stick his head in the bubble and see what the fish were seeing. While I don't recommend sticking your head in an aquarium, bubble or no bubble, I do think it would be interesting to see things from the fish's perspective.

Since an aquarium is a confined space that seldom moves, their world must be sort of dull and uninteresting. Maybe that doesn't matter to a creature with such a small brain. On the other hand, they share many emotions with other living creatures, including us. When they look through the glass, they probably see a large blob, which they have learned to associate with food. I wonder if their eyes can focus on anything more than a foot or two away. It seems like the fish know the person who feeds them, but if you move the aquarium some fish will associate the large, moving blob with a predator and will try to hide from you.

A small, water proof video camera would be pretty informative if used to explore the inside of an aquarium. Of course, fish may not rely on eyesight as much as we do. Water currents, vibrations and odors may be more important senses to them.

And speaking of sense, this entire posting may be nonsense. Still, it's something to think about. The world is full of different perspectives.

OK, now you sound like you have gone off the deep end there LOL, just kidding.

Yeah, you got to wonder what the heck they think half the time, they do recognize people, especially as you say the one with the food, but who knows.

They could be planning a break....

It could be a mistake to assume a fish or even another human being has the same thoughts and perceptions as we do. That's what makes the whole topic interesting.
