We recently purchased some breeding Koi, who put down a batch of eggs 2 days ago, well needless to say we were going to remove them tonight, but during the day they feasted...So next time we will pull them from the start..

Hello to all of the other members from the AW Forum... hope this forum is as great as that one.

Hey! Great to have you join us. Talk about trouble with angelfish, I have a pair of golds that spawned four times and took care of the babies the first two times. Now all their eggs are infertile. Maybe that's to prove nobody is smart enough to predict what they will do.

I've said many times that the only thing you can count on with angelfish is that you can't count on anything.

Luckily for you Karen, they will spawn another day, and you can outsmart them....maybe...and HI!

Fishwife -- I sure hope so -- the fishstore keeps asking Jim if he has more koi ready.... and oopss they ate them again, so we probably better pull the next batch. When we pulled the first and third batch we got only 20 from the first and none from the third. So we are not sure if the male is not following the female after she puts down the eggs or what...They are such a nice pair. Not alot of orange but they have lots of personality.

Contrary to accepted practice, I always pull the parents and let the fry stay in the spawning tank. Established pairs like to keep us confused by changing the way they do things, and sometimes a brief separation gets things back in focus.

Or confuse the parents into doing what they need to do!
