Do angel fish like vertical tanks or horizontal tanks? Do you boil zucchini if your going to feed them to otos or can they be served fresh? I observed my female opaline gouramis were fighting today. They are in a 55 along with a male. The male is suprisingly docile and even gets bullied by the larger female. I am sure the females are fighting because i could distinguish between the sexes by their dorsal fins Does anybody know why?

Due to their tall bodies most people like to keep angels in tall tanks. Horizontal works fine too though. As for zuchinni, I do not boil it. I put it in the microwave for a bout 30 seconds and that cooks it enough that it will sink either right away or in a couple of hours. My plecos love it. Gouramis as you have probably found out can be territorial. From what I have read it is usually the males that are aggressive. Are you positive your two females are indeed females? All I know is females usually have a duller color than the males. That is why most fish stores only sell the males. I hope this helps some.

I am positive it is my females fighting because they have a rounded dorsal fin rather than a pointed one on males. The male just minds his own business and is very calm. Oh and thanks for the answers.
