I was just wondering what would be the right amount for a daily water change. I do about 15%, except for when they were sick i did like 25%. Everyone is always telling me different amounts.

thanks.

The 15 or 20 percent a week schedule sounds about right to me too. Some fish like discus need larger and more frequent water changes, as do aquariums carrying a very large biological load.

I'm a fan of the bigger water changes...

But that being said... I'm always trying to get the water crytal clear... to induce breeding... and my fry tanks are overstocked... So I have to deal with that... LOL!

Angela's response brings up a good point: different things work for different people, and nobody has all the answers. Even we old timers keep learning things about the hobby, so I hope everyone feels comfortable discussing their experiences and opinions. We all learn when you ask questions.
