Aquarium coolers are expensive, so most people just make sure the fish tank does not get direct sunlight. An air stone can lower temperature by encouraging evaporation. Low wattage lighting produces less heat, and if you turn off the light during the hottest part of the day it will not be an extra source of heat. You can also float a plastic bag full of ice cubes. Of course, it's cooler closer to the floor; if you have as small aquarium, moving it to a lower place may be feasible. All that said, most aquarium fish can tolerate warm temperatures even if they are not ideal.

You can buy a powerhead to agitate the water and make it cooler. You can also try lowering your a/c a few degrees. I live in FL and it gets really hot here. You may want to move your aquarium to a different location where there is no direct sunlight. The water stays cooler and you get less algae!

Thanks for posting the aquarium fan picture; I've never seen one of those. How does it work? We all know a fan is a vortex generator, but what are those two fittings on the top?

They seem like little intake tubes to take in water and expel it out the fan. I don't know, maybe it's suppose to be connected to something.

Thermoelectric devices, like air conditioners, are based on "The Peltier Effect."It [The Peltier Effect] utilizes two elements of a semi-conductor which is constructed from doped Bismuth Telluride. Upon application of a direct current (DC) power source, these devices generate a cooling action, countered by a generation of heat on the opposite side of the device." Although aquarium thermoelectric chillers may function slightly different than the products by EIC, they are still based on the same principle. Thermoelectric chillers are usually either in-line or devices mounted into the aquarium through bulkheads. The most commonly seen thermoelectric chillers and the AZOO Thermoelectric Heater/Chiller.
yes this fitts on the top of the aquarium.
