John, I just did a water test, and everything came out 0.
Amm-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-0
yesterday on my nitrate reading I had 10, can you tell me what is going on, or don't I have to worry about it. I lost 1 dano so far, he was floating belly up this morning. All the others are doing fine, chaseing one another around the tank. I tried to feed them the Omega One flake, but they wouldn't
touch anything. I left the flakes in the tank for about five minutes, and nothing doing, so I scooped the flakes out. Is anthing going on that I should be aware of?

Phil,
I wouldn't worry so much about losing one fish, or the Nitrate, or the lack of the food being eaten.
I've been following this discussion in previous posts and it sounds like you're doing good.
Nitrates aren't as ALL-IMPORTANT as they're sometimes made out to be... As long as Ammonia is zero... I wouldn't really worry too much about it...
The Danio dying... it is just as likely as not that it's nothing you did. The stress from shipping fish to the fish store, then bagging them and bringing them into your tank.
And them not eating... I wouldn't really be worried about that yet. Keep offering, and cleaning up the uneaten... I would only be concerned after a week of them not eating. If it's a couple of days, you can soak the flakes in some garlic, and see if that helps to make the fish hungry...
Oh! I almost forgot, baby or live brine shrimp are nearly irresistable! Also other live foods... Black worms, even frozen bloodworms... There's more tasty things than flakes, if they won't initially eat. Please make sure that you know the source of your black worms, that they're disease free...
Good Luck!

Thanks Angela for that information, I just found another dead Dano, but the other three are doing just fine. I also just did another water test and Amm. & Nitrite are 0, and the Nitrate is between 0 & 5 on the color chart.
I guess I just worry too much. Thanks again

Very often, fish die just from being moved from one place to another. The ones you bought in an aquarium shop came from somewhere, so they were moved. Then they went from the aquarium shop to your fish habitat. That's a lot of stressful moves, and that's why the last move produces less stress with the drip acclimation technique. The moving stress can even show up a month later.
