We have a fully cycled 10 gallon tank and have 1 male yellow guppy and 2 ghost shrimp. We added 2 smaller male turquoise guppies and our yellow guppy chased and nipped them. Within about 30 hours, both new guppies were dead. I think they were chased/stressed/nipped to death. The mean yellow guppy seems to leave the shrimp alone. Are any other fish safe with this guy or must I keep him alone? I thought guppies liked company. I'd really like couple more fish in the tank. Suggestions?

Separate him with a breeder net/box or just return him to the store. This fish will not allow you to get new ones and that stinks. He is a mean fishy

I was sort of afraid that he would be too mean for any other fish. Trouble is that my son is really attached to "Gupper." I may separate him into a smaller tank and let him live out his days as a hermit with maybe some more shrimp since he doesn't bother these. I was hoping there would be some other breed of fish he would not consider offensive.

You could even by a tank divider and split the tank in two

One for "gupper" and one side for the rest

But then you maybneed to buy another filter
