Well finally!!

I know this picture just looks like a plastic plant. But look closely, all over in the plant are baby DD black angelfish!!!! They are about 3 weeks old now and I moved them a few days ago into their own grow out tanks. Their parents were great, but they wanted to spawn again, so the kids had to be moved. This is the first batch that has made it this long. I almost wonder, when angelfish are young and just starting to spawn, if those spawns are really meant to make it or not. It seems after a few attempts and learning, the parents produce larger spawns and seemingly healthier fry. Just an observation.

I read a paper that confirms your observation, that is assuming the writer was correct. He did an experiment that produced the conclusion that the first several spawns are less than perfect, so the parents eat the eggs. When a spawn is healthy and viable, the parents raise their fry. Of course, that's just one researcher and one set of experiments.

It would be great if that's the way it were.

As it is, some "moms" and probably "dads" as well, are SO excited to have eggs... that they can't handle it and HAVE to PULL the eggs and raise them little BABIES!!!

LOL...

Maybe some of my fish are just really really thick skulled...

Cool picture! Very interesting observation about the first couple of spawns. Hopefully this batch will stay healthy. My fingers are crossed!
