The motor is probably connected to an impeller type pump and is in the same housing. Since it's an internal unit, it should fit directly on the filter box or the uplift tube of an under gravel filter.

The filter is apparently a product of China and is not yet distributed in the USA. To make sure what you have, use Google to look up other power filters and see how they are installed. You may also be able to Google the manufacturer or distributor listed on the label of the pump.

Please don't take any chances dealing with electricity. If you do not understand how the pump is supposed to work, start over.

Could you post the link or describe how you got it to work? I'm having the same problem, not very helpful assembly tips on the instruction manual.
