That question is from someone who did not want to name names, but it merits an answer.

I think my plants mostly suffer from a marauding pack of hungry snails...and maybe lack of fertile soil...soon to be remedied.

And one more thing: According to at least one reliable source, some plants like hornwort can directly metabolise ammonia. In addition, live plants help control algae.

So, it was two more things.

I have 2 t5 HO lights and a regular tube light on a 37gal high tank. My java fern like it should grows fairly well attached to the tree branch I have but I also have Sagittaria and it just doesn't grow. I'm really not sure what to do. Any thoughts?

Are you using a clay based substrate supplement? Java fern is not as demanding as some other plants.
